Our approachThe thinking behind the work.

What should your brand
do for the business?

Our process covers understanding the business, agreeing the direction, developing the brand and supporting rollout. The principles below guide the decisions throughout that work.

Our principlesExpectations / Evaluation / Experience

Customers. Business.
Experience.

At each stage, we check whether the work addresses a customer need, makes business sense and can be delivered. These are questions we return to throughout the project.

01 / Expectations

What do people
need from you?

We start by asking what customers want to do and what help they need. What matters to them? What do they choose today? Where does the current offer fall short?

We review existing research, market data, competitors and the company’s own experience. Where the evidence is thin, we identify what needs investigating before making a decision.

The decision
Which audience to prioritise, what need to address and what role the brand can credibly play.
What the team takes forward
Audience priorities, a focused challenge and hypotheses to explore.
02 / Evaluation

Is it worth doing?

We compare the cost, potential value and practical requirements of each option against the company’s priorities and resources.

For each proposed initiative, we ask what improvement it should create and how that could be measured. Depending on the task and available data, that might mean consideration, conversion, retention or a financial measure. We agree the baseline and the limits of what can be attributed to the work.

The decision
Which options deserve investment, what to prioritise and what to leave out.
What the team takes forward
A reasoned choice, success criteria and a way to review progress.
03 / Experience

What will
customers experience?

We review the product, service and communication to see whether customers get what the brand promises. Where they do not, we identify what needs to change.

That helps define the work: a change to the offer, a clearer product structure, a new identity, different communication or better guidance for the people delivering the service.

The decision
What needs to change in the customer’s experience, and who needs to make it happen.
What the team takes forward
A brief for the relevant applications, priorities for implementation and practical guidance.
Planning the rolloutResponsibilities, timing and support.

What needs to happen
after the strategy?

We agree what needs to change, what the team can deliver and what should happen first. That may include products, design, communication, service or partnerships.

Turn the scope into a working plan.

We list the work required, identify dependencies and agree responsibilities and review points with your team.

Support can include workshops, guidelines, design reviews and help with the first applications. We agree this in the project scope so the team knows what to expect after handover.

Working togetherExperience on both sides of the brief.

Who needs to be involved?

Our experience includes Interbrand and MetaDesign, alongside CMO and brand director roles within client businesses. We have worked with international brands and with the budgets, approvals and responsibilities inside an organisation.

With founders

We work directly with the founders to review options and make decisions. We explain our assumptions, the evidence behind each recommendation and the trade-offs involved.

With larger organisations

We plan who needs to contribute, who decides and when approval is needed. We involve the teams responsible for implementation before the strategy is signed off.

We agree the research, deliverables and implementation support in the proposal. The schedule includes time for your team to review the work and make decisions.
